the villas

A Little Port

In Limana, as throughout the beautiful Valbelluna, several magnificent 17th-century historic villas dot the landscape, each with its own fascinating story. One of the most charming is Villa Piloni in the small hamlet of Cesa, located along the banks of the peaceful Piave River.

According to local tradition, a small river port once operated here, where goods and travellers were transported along the river. In past centuries, wooden rafts regularly passed through this spot on their way to Venice. The villa is surrounded by a beautiful garden that tradition attributes to Alexandre Poiteau, the famous garden designer of Palace of Versailles, who arrived in the Belluno area with the troops of Napoleon Bonaparte. Today the villa still belongs to the Piloni family and can be admired from the outside while exploring the countryside around Limana.

Villa Sacello-Zadra

Continuing along Via Centore, visitors reach Villa Sacello Zadra, originally built by the Sacello family and later inherited by the Zadra family. The villa stands on a gentle hill surrounded by open countryside southeast of Limana, not far from the small hamlet of Refos.

Inside, the villa preserves period furnishings and decorations that reflect centuries of local history. Outside, parts of the original stone boundary walls are still visible quiet reminders of the long past that families can discover while walking through the historic landscapes of Valbelluna.

Villa De Mori-Consorti

i

Villa De Mori Consorti, located in the centre of Limana, has its own fascinating story. When it was first built, the villa stood alone in the countryside, surrounded only by fields and farmland. Today it is encircled by private homes, yet it still preserves much of its original historic structure.

During World War I the villa suffered significant damage and several of its outbuildings were destroyed. Unfortunately the building is not currently open to visitors, but it remains an important piece of Limana’s cultural heritage.

Villa De Castello

In the village area known as Villa di Limana stands the elegant Villa De Castello. Thanks to its elevated position and impressive size, the villa is easily recognizable from the main road.

The complex includes a central residence, a farmhouse wing and a large garden enclosed by historic boundary walls. Like the other villas in the area, it is not open to the public, but it remains a beautiful landmark in the countryside a lovely sight for families enjoying a scenic walk or family bike ride through the historic landscapes of Limana and the Belluno Dolomites.
